WHO WE ARE

The Kegel Release Curve was developed by Kate Roddy, a Toronto-based sport and pelvic physiotherapist who, like many moms-to-be, took a hard pass on perineal massage to prep her vaginal muscles for giving birth. She knew the benefits, but she just couldn’t reach to do it (and she wasn’t about to ask her husband to help—That can’t possibly go well, she thought). Then her baby arrived—all 11 pounds, 5 ounces of him. And her postnatal vagina immediately wished her prenatal vagina had prepared better for such a monumental event.

The truth is this: Kate is a recovering vagina herself. She intimately knows the struggles women face, and at the physiotherapy clinic, she was seeing lots of women struggling with the same issues—and more. And it got her thinking:

How can I make perineal massage easy for women? How can I empower them to do it every day, for the good of their pelvic floor?

With 15 years of physiotherapy experience, Kate notices many patients walk through the door with muscular tension caused by stress and anxiety. What most women don’t realize is they hold their stress in their pelvic floor, and this can lead to a whole bunch of problems. In many cases, the solution is remarkably simple: stretch and relax the muscles so they work properly.

Too many women avoid everyday activities for fear of embarrassment or pain. Women want to run, jump, sneeze, cough and laugh without peeing a little (or a lot). They want to have sex or insert a tampon without vaginal pain. Pregnant women want to avoid tearing and the need for an episiotomy during childbirth. And women would really love to avoid feeling like they have to go to the bathroom ALL THE TIME.

This is why Kate created the KR Curve.

Our CORE BELIEFS as a company are grounded in helping women take control of their pelvic floor:

  • We believe preventative action will revolutionize pelvic floor muscle tone.

  • We believe reducing incontinence will give women confidence.

  • We believe easing pelvic tension will help women rediscover pleasure in sex.

  • We believe pregnant women should have the ability to do perineal massage themselves.

  • We believe in the power of pelvic floor relaxation—and we know the KR Curve makes it easier.
